Who and what is FerretNet?

FerretNet started as a simple idea in 2008. Parts of it were scribbled on a waffle house napkin & others were formed around a swimming pool with beer and a cigar.  We went through a ton of change at first.  Initially we wanted to be a software company and we were for a time.  We developed internet based workflow software. Then we tried a web-company.  We decided that we were going to sell the entire world on websites, media and all sorts of other things.  Then reality asserted itself and we decided to refocus on what we knew best, technology consulting.  We decided to use our talents in customer service, hardware and software to serve a market that was passionate about the use of technology to move business forward.  Our customers started to appear in business & programming.  Soon we expanded to government and all sorts of other business types.

Today FerretNet is a dynamic and growing company.  Up from it’s original two members it now sports five associated geeks that dabble in computer consulting for business & government.  We are still very much interested in product development side (we have our own Solidworks/3d printer R&D prototyping facility) and we are writing software that is soon to come to market.  We’re passionate about our customers and the cost-saving services that we can provide.  We have a vision of a company that is committed to its industry and can lead it.  It’s our motto, it’s our philosophy, it’s our zen. We’re thrilled to be here.

Okay, so level with me.. why a Ferret?

We get asked this question a lot! The Ferret is our Mascot.  His name is Bob and he is a tad excitable. Why Bob? because that’s what he does when he runs around the room and also that is what his head does when he runs straight into the wall.  Okay, maybe not so much the last.. but anyway, when the owner was a little kid he had a couple of Ferrets as pets.  Since that point he’s been a big fan of them.  When we were trying to come up with a company name we loathed the idea of something bland like “Initech” or “Pinnacle Data Systems” or something equally nauseating.  We wanted something that would have universal appeal too.  How could you say no to a Ferret? that’s what we thought.  We couldn’t either.  Since that point we’ve gleefully held onto Bob as our mascot.  He’s an entertaining one too!

So who are these FerretNet people?

We’re all strapping, handsome, beautiful, capable, hot, super-intelligent Computer Engineers, Geeks, Code Monkeys and associated Dabblers.  It’s true, just ask us!   Our guys & girls come from a wide variety of backgrounds in sales, finance, management, computer consulting, electrical engineering, legal and customer service.

Who do you work with?

While we are still gathering photos and information for this page, we thought we would like to provide a brief over-view.  Our customers are primarily business (in the form of engineering, construction, architecture, dental and medical offices, manufacturing, restaurant chains, churches and schools) and municipalities (city government).   We help those that do not have a technical support staff, are unsatisfied with their current computer support staff, or need to supplement their current workers. Our flexibility and reliability are our two greatest assets in helping our customers move forward.  While our services are primarily business oriented we do work with individuals to resolve computer problems.

Development Labs

Right so we mentioned that we have a 3D design facility right? We also mentioned that we’re developing software.. right? Well, we are. We have a nice room dedicated to creating prototypes that fix common computing problems. We’re always looking for the next big problem to solve, when we have our patents straightened out we’ll post about it here (in fact we’ll have a whole page donated to it). We’re also developing new software for some rather unique industries. We’ve learned from our original workflow software product, and created entirely new products. We’ve taken our desire to help business (through software) into some really exciting directions. We will be proud to announce our new products once they are almost ready.
